Description


The Master´s Degree in Applied Biochemistry aims to form professionals with advanced knowledge in the area of Biochemistry and its applications. Biochemistry is an independent science and today has a vast range of applications, from the health sciences to industry including analytical methods. This course provides a solid background in core areas of Biochemistry, such as the structure and function of biomolecules and the methods used in their production, characterization and analysis. The students will also acquire knowledge in the most recent scientific advances in areas such as molecular regulation of the cell and techniques used to study it, genetic manipulation, computational modelling and bioinformatics. Allowing students to specialize within an area of Biochemistry offers a better preparation to fit into the job market and/or onto 3rd cycle programs (PhD). Thet students can specialize in one of the following areas :
1) Analytical and Molecular Biochemistry,
2) Biomedicine or
3) Biotechnology.

Formal requirements


Conditions for admission to the master’s course:
a) holding a degree (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine / Health and Biomedical Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Biological Engineering / Biotechnology, or any other degree in subjects related to those listed;
b) holding a foreign Bachelor’s degree granted for the1st cycle of studies, organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process, by a State which is party to this Process, satisfying the objectives of the Bachelor’s Degree by the Scientific Council of the School of Sciences;
c) holding a foreign Bachelor’s Degree which is recognized by the Scientific Council of the School as satisfying the objectives of the Bachelor’s Degree;
d) those with an academicdemic, scientific or professional curriculum which is recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Sciences as demonstrating the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies.
