The School of Economics, Management and Political Science (EEG) of the University of Minho hosted, between 17 and 21 November, a Twinning with the University of Graz (Austria), dedicated to the theme “Greening Transitions with AI: Climate, Employment and Sustainability in Action”. The initiative brought together master students and academics from both institutions for a week of debate, joint learning and immersion in sustainability best practices.
The programme included four workshops that explored topics such as behavioural economics applied to water resources, the potential of artificial intelligence, technological and institutional pathways for sustainable transitions, and the combined impacts of digital and green transitions on the labour market. Throughout the week, participants analysed contemporary challenges and collaborated on practical exercises and final presentations.
The Twinning Week also featured two external visits: one to the DST Group, where participants learned about projects related to innovation and corporate sustainability; and another to Viana do Castelo, allowing for the observation of local strategies for sustainable development.
This initiative strengthened the strategic cooperation between EEG and the University of Graz, consolidating an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability challenges and the opportunities brought by emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.
