  Master Degree in Biophysics of Bionanosystems

The master degree course in Biophysics of Bionanosystems aims at providing students a profound knowledge in physics of biological systems focusing on their molecular constituen​​ts, trying to developed the following skills: 

-Devel​​opment of new Bionanosystems for specific applications in Nanomedicin and Bionanomaterials 

-Supplying a stimulating scientific environment in research projects of recognized quality, promoting the learning skills and the interchanging of ideas, as well as the entre​preneurship initiatives; 

-Preparin​​g the students for a research career in Biophysics, both in Portugal and abroad; 

-Encouraging their integration in the job market associated to technological and based industries and in research institutes.​

The master degree course in Biophysics of Bionanosystems aims at providing students a profound knowledge in physics of biological systems focusing on their molecular constituents, trying to developed the following skills:
-Development of new Bionanosystems for specific applications in Nanomedicin and Bionanomaterials

Access to higher education


This Master degree provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas

Formal requirements


Are admitted to apply to the course:
a) Holders of a Degree (or legally equivalent) in the areas of Physical Sciences or Life Sciences, or another degree with technical-scientific nature related to these areas;
b) Holders of a foreign academic degree conferred due to a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a member state;
c) Holders of a foreign degree that is recognized by the Scientific Council of School of Sciences as meeting the goals of the degree;
d) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this study cycle by the Scientific Council of School of Sciences.
