Flow cytometer/Beckman Coulter Cytoflex System B4-R2-V0, with optical configuration of 2 lasers (488nm; 638nm) and 6 fluorescence detectors, with plate loader
Flow cytometry is a powerful tool that rapidly analyses single cells or particles. It has applications in multiple fields, such as Biological Sciences, Environmental Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Basic Medicine, Nano-Technology, Clinical Medicine, Medical Biotechnology. Each cell or particle is analysed for visible light scatter and one or multiple fluorescence parameters. In this sense, samples are prepared for fluorescence measurement; for example, through expression of fluorescent proteins (ex. Green Fluorescent Protein, GFP, or Red Fluorescent Protein, RFP), by staining with fluorescent dyes (e.g., Propidium Iodide, Fluorescein diacetate or DAPI), by staining with fluorescently conjugated antibodies (e.g., CD3 FITC).
